Guwahati: In a significant move, the Supreme Court Collegium has given its approval for the transfer of 21 judges across various High Courts in India. This decision forms part of the judiciary’s regular administrative changes aimed at ensuring an adept and equitable legal framework.
As part of the transfer, three judges from the Gauhati High Court have been reassigned to other High Courts. Justice L. Jamir will be transferred to the Calcutta High Court, while Justice Manas Ranjan Pathak will move to the Orissa High Court. Additionally, Justice Suman Shyam from the Gauhati High Court has been cleared for transfer to the Bombay High Court.
The Collegium’s decision to transfer judges is aimed at introducing fresh insights within the judiciary, preventing stagnation, and ensuring a fair spread of judicial expertise nationwide. These transfers are also intended to address regional discrepancies and optimise judicial assets.
