Supreme Court Dismisses PILs Seeking Action Against PM Modi and BJP for Alleged Hate Speeches

National Desk, 14th May: The Supreme Court of India has declined to entertain a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking to bar Prime Minister Narendra Modi from elections due to alleged hate speeches made during campaigning.

Additionally, the Supreme Court dismissed another petition seeking directives for the Election Commission of India (ECI) to address hate speeches made during election campaigns, specifically by members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and S C Sharma advised the petitioner to approach the appropriate authorities for redressal. “Have you approached authorities? For writ of mandamus, you must approach the authorities first,” the bench stated.

Following this advice, the petitioner withdrew the plea, and the matter was dismissed as withdrawn.

The plea, filed by Fatima through Advocate Anand S Jondhale, sought a direction from the Election Commission to disqualify PM Modi from elections for six years under the Representation of People Act.
