Supreme Court Lawyer Files Complaint Against IFFI Jury Head For Remarks On ‘The Kashmir Files’
Guwahati: The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) jury head Nadav Lapid has been accused of exploiting the sacrifices made by the Hindu population in Kashmir by labelling the film “The Kashmir Files” as “vulgar” and “propaganda” by a practising Supreme Court attorney on Tuesday.
The complaint against Nadav Lapid stated that attorney Vineet Jindal filed a complaint against him and requested registration under sections 121, 153, 153A and B, 295, 298 and 505 of the Indian Penal Code for his alleged comment on the film “The Kashmir Files,” which is based on the true story of the genocide against Hindus in Kashmir.
The ‘exodus and massacres’ of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley in the 1990s by Islamic terrorists are the subjects of the movie ‘The Kashmir Files’. He is exploiting the sacrifice of Hindus in Kashmir and attacking the Hindu community by using derogatory words vulgar and propaganda upon Hindu killings in order to incite hatred in our country, it continued. He did this by calling a movie based on a true story about the genocide of Hindus by Islamic terrorists that occurred in Kashmir “propaganda” and “vulgar.”
The Goa Director General of Police (DGP) has been notified of the complaint, which reads as follows: “The tenor of his statement (Nadav Lapid’s) plainly demonstrates his intention to incite animosity between communities. As a social activist who also practises Hinduism, Nadav Lapid’s statement has caused me great emotional pain “Vineet Jindal, the complainant, said.
It became clearer when one of the IFFI jury members, Sudipto Sen, through his Twitter account stated that “it is completely in a personal capacity- nothing to do with the esteemed jury board,” Jindal continued, that Nadav’s statement was completely manipulated and had ill intentions toward the Hindu Community in the grab of targeting the movie Kashmir files.
The statement of Sudipito Sen demonstrates that no such statement regarding the Kashmir Files has been approved or discussed by jury members at IFFI; however, it was added that Nadav must have some sort of hidden agenda against the Hindu Community that manifested itself during his closing speech at IFFI.
On the controversial statement, The Kashmir Files lead actor Anupam Kher also criticized Nadav Lapid and said, “We’ll give a proper reply. If the holocaust is right, the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits is right too. Seems pre-planned as immediately after that toolkit gang became active. Shameful for him to make a statement like this.”
Anupam Kher, on IFFI Jury Head Nadav Lapid’s remarks on KashmirFiles also said, “coming from a community – Jews – who suffered the holocaust, he also pained those people who suffered this tragedy several yrs ago. May God give him wisdom so that he doesn’t use the tragedy of thousands & lakhs of people from the stage to fulfill his agenda.”
