Supreme Court Rejects Arvind Kejriwal’s Request for Bail Extension

National Desk, 29th May: The Supreme Court has declined to entertain Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea for a seven-day extension to his interim bail in a corruption case related to the Delhi liquor policy.

Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), had sought the extension to his interim bail, which is set to expire on June 1. He was previously granted bail on May 10 to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, with a surrender date of June 2.

On May 27, Kejriwal filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking an extension of his interim bail by a week, citing medical grounds. However, a vacation bench of the Supreme Court on May 28 rejected the urgent hearing for the extension, stating that the case had already been considered previously.

The bench emphasized that the final decision regarding the listing of the case will be made by the Chief Justice of India (CJI). The extension plea pertains to the LiquorGate scandal case, and the Supreme Court’s decision underscores the legal proceedings surrounding Kejriwal’s bail status.
