Suspect Held in Nagarbera for Theft of DIG’s Mobile Phone

Guwahati, 27th July: The police swift action have detained an individual in Nagarbera area of Kamrup district Assam on Thursday in connection with the theft of a top cop’s mobile phone.

The incident in question occurred on July 23 when the mobile phone belonging to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Vivek Raj Singh was snatched from him while he was on his morning walk in Guwahati.

The detained person has been identified as Javed Ali. Nagarbera Police apprehended him on suspicions of being involved in the case and subsequently handed him over to the Hatigoan Police in Guwahati.

The complaint concerning the mobile phone theft had been lodged at the Hatigaon Police Station.

According to reports, the accused, Javed Ali, confessed to using software to track the mobile phone’s location and then devised a plan to snatch the top cop’s phone.

During interrogation, he further revealed his involvement in previous incidents where he snatched mobile phones from residents across various areas in Guwahati.

An extensive investigation into the matter has been launched, and authorities are determined to uncover any accomplices or additional details related to the theft and the accused’s previous criminal activities. The police’s prompt actions demonstrate their commitment to maintaining public safety and bringing perpetrators of such crimes to justice.
