Suspected Gunman in Lunar New Year Mass Shooting Found Dead

Guwahati: The man who was accused of carrying out a mass shooting in California’s Monterey Park was found dead.

The suspect has been identified as Huu Can Tran and was recovered dead inside a white cargo van after engaging in a standoff with police in Torrance.

According to Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna, the individual was discovered to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot injuries.

The police were looking for the suspect after he opened fire at a dance class in Monterey Park over the Lunar New Year weekend.

At least 10 individuals were murdered and numerous others were injured in the mass shooting incident that occured on Saturday at 10:22 p.m. (local time).

A firearm was discovered in the car where the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot injuries, according to Sheriff Luna.

He revealed that the incident had resulted in the deaths of five men and five women.

The other injured people were taken to a number of nearby hospitals where their states range from stable to serious.

Meanwhile, US Vice President Joe Biden ordered all US flags at government facilities to fly at half-staff until dusk on Sunday.

Biden in a statement said, “I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, January 26, 2023.”

“I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations,” the statement added.
