Suspected Militants Launch Bomb Attack in Manipur’s Bishnupur District

Northeast Desk, 6th September: Suspected militants launched a fresh bomb attack in Manipur’s Bishnupur district early Friday morning, damaging at least two structures, police reported. The attack involved rockets being fired from elevated positions in the Churachandpur district towards the low-lying residential area of Tronglaobi, approximately 45 km from Imphal.

According to authorities, the rockets had an estimated range of over 3 km. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but a local community hall and an unoccupied room were damaged.

Following the rocket fire, suspected militants also fired several rounds towards Bishnupur district, leading security forces to retaliate.

The incident followed heightened tensions on Thursday night in nearby Kumbi village, where eyewitnesses reported multiple drones hovering just 100 metres above ground, causing concern among locals.

This recent attack underscores the ongoing unrest in the region, as security forces continue to face challenges in maintaining peace.
