Guwahati, 26th July: At least seven persons have been apprehended on Wednesday in connection with a suspected moral policing case in Goalpara district of Assam.
According to sources, the incident occurred in Solmari area where one man was allegedly beaten to death by the accused on Monday night suspecting him to be a thief. The following morning, the police found the body of the man.
The wife of the deceased said that her husband had gone to a nearby shop at night to purchase groceries but did not return. The police later found his body the next morning.
Putul Das, Prakash Rabha, Ramprasad Das, Rupjyoti Rabha, Upajit Rabha, Swapan Rabha, and Ratul Biswas are the seven people detained.
