Guwahati: A relative of a Deutsche Welle (DW) journalist was killed by the Taliban in Afghanistan while searching for him.
According to reports, the Taliban fighters were hunting for the Deutsche Welle reporter in Afghanistan but as they were unable to track him, a relative was killed by the militants. However, other family members of the journalist managed to escape from the spot.
Peter Limbourg, the director of DW said that the Taliban’s killing of a close relative of one of the journalists, working at the organization is an incredibly “tragic event”, proving that all our workers and their families face imminent danger in Afghanistan.
He further added that the homes of three other DW reporters were also searched by the Taliban.
Deutsche Welle and other media organizations of Germany have asked the German government to help the Afghan staff of DW.
