Tamulpur Races Against Time: PMAY-G Completion Deadline Set Amidst Development Push

Tamulpur: A crucial review meeting unfolded today at the conference hall of the Tamulpur District Commissioner’s office, with a sharp focus on accelerating development initiatives and assessing the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) in the district.

The gathering, presided over by Assam’s Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, and Tourism, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, alongside District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty, delved deep into the ongoing projects across Tamulpur’s three development blocks: Tamulpur, Goreswar, and Nagrijuli.

Minister Dass sought a comprehensive update from departmental officials regarding the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), meticulously enquiring about the number of completed and pending houses, and the underlying reasons for any delays. Officials informed the minister that an impressive 93% of the work across all three blocks, spanning the financial years 2016-17 to 2023-24, has been successfully concluded. A firm directive was issued by the minister, setting a deadline of August 14 for the completion of all remaining works, cautioning that any failure to meet this target could impede future allocations of new houses under the scheme.

Beyond housing, the minister also took stock of the progress under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and the Amrit Sarovar schemes. It was highlighted that out of 116 MGNREGA projects, 109 have already reached completion, showcasing significant headway. Emphasising the broader vision of state and district development, Minister Dass reiterated the urgency for all stakeholders to ensure the prompt culmination of pending tasks.

The meeting saw the presence of a host of key figures, including Tamulpur’s local MLA, Jolen Daimary, BTC Executive Member Dr. Dharmanarayana Das, and MCLAs Pabitra Kumar Boro, Bijitgwra Narzary, and Hemanta Kumar Rabha. Several officials from the District Commissioner’s office and various concerned departments were also in attendance, collectively reaffirming their commitment to the district’s developmental trajectory.
