Tawang Eyed as Potential Host for Miss Universe Arunachal Pradesh 2025
Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh is gearing up for the highly anticipated second edition of Miss Universe Arunachal Pradesh, with Tawang emerging as a strong contender to host the prestigious event. Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs and Social Justice, Kento Jini, has hinted at the possibility, sparking excitement across the state.
The announcement came during a significant reception in New Delhi, where Minister Jini, alongside Lekang MLA Likha Soni and Miss Universe Arunachal State Director Takam Anju, welcomed Miss Universe 2024, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, to India. The Danish beauty queen’s arrival marked a pivotal moment, highlighting the growing significance of Arunachal Pradesh in the national and international pageant scene.
Minister Jini underscored the vital role of beauty pageants in promoting Arunachal Pradesh and the wider Northeast, emphasizing the region’s vast potential in tourism, fashion, and the showcase of its rich tribal heritage. His remarks signaled a strong inclination towards Tawang as the next host city, building on the success of the inaugural edition.
The first Miss Universe Arunachal Pradesh saw Thupten Lhamu, also from Tawang, crowned as the winner, setting a high benchmark for future contestants. State Director Takam Anju revealed that the upcoming edition will expand its scope, featuring the top 40 finalists instead of the previous 25. This expansion aims to provide more opportunities for aspiring models and beauty queens across the state.
To further elevate the competition, national experts will be brought in to train the contestants, focusing on building their confidence and preparing them for larger platforms. Adding to the excitement, this year’s finale will include a special jury member—Miss Universe India—a figure who has previously represented the nation on the international stage. Anju expressed her gratitude to Minister Jini for his unwavering support, highlighting the anticipated growth and scale of the event.
Miss Universe Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, addressing the gathered media, expressed her deep appreciation for the warm welcome she received in India. She thanked the Miss Universe India organization for arranging her visit, emphasizing the importance of international pageants in empowering women across the country. Her presence aims to inspire young women to pursue their dreams on global beauty platforms, fostering greater opportunities for aspirants in India’s burgeoning fashion and modeling industries.
