Guwahati: A local court in Chirang district of Assam has sentenced a teacher to six years of imprisonment for sexually abusing a minor on Thursday.
The teacher has been identified as Sanjib Ray.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the defendant.
The court said that if Ray does not pay the fine, then his imprisonment would be prolonged for another six months.
As per the police in the case, the defendant sexually molested the victim in February of this year.
Later, the victim’s family filed a complaint and a case was opened.
