Teen Shot Dead in Manipur’s Moirangkampu, Police Launch Investigation

Imphal: A teenage boy was shot dead in broad daylight by unknown armed miscreants at Moirangkampu Awang Leikai, under Porompat police station, Manipur, on February 10.
The deceased has been identified as Laishram Malemngangba alias Thonao (18), son of (L) Ibomcha, a resident of Moirangkampu Awang Leikai.
The incident occurred at 12:30 p.m., when he was traveling on a bike with his friend to a store at Khurai Ahongei.
Four armed assailants in a four-wheeler intercepted them near Puriba Puraba Laishang, about 150 meters from their locality.
The attackers demanded to know who Amar was between the two. After a brief exchange, one of the assailants shot Malemngangba in the forehead, killing him on the spot.
The assailants also attempted to shoot his friend, but the weapon malfunctioned, allowing him to escape and seek shelter in a nearby house.
The miscreants fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Porompat police arrived quickly, conducted an inquest, and examined the scene.
They recovered one empty cartridge and four live rounds from the site.
The body has been sent to JNIMS morgue for post-mortem.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the assailants.
