Telangana Congress lodge complaint against Assam CM over Rahul Gandhi remark

Guwahati: The Telangana Congress on Monday filed charges against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for making derogatory comments regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Congress leaders filed charges against Sarma at police stations around the state, demanding his arrest.

The state Congress chairman, Revanth Reddy, and other officials filed a complaint against the Assam chief minister at Jubilee Hills police station for his obscene remarks. He requested that the police file a criminal complaint against Sarma and arrest him.

The Congress MPs asked that the Assam chief minister be charged with promoting animosity amongst different communities under sections 153A and 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to Revanth Reddy, Sarma’s statement are an insult to every woman’s motherhood. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President J.P. Nadda should act quickly to fire Sarma.

Reddy, who is also a member of Parliament was followed by senior leaders Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Sampath Kumar, and others.

According to the head of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, the police have only provided an acknowledgment. He urged that the police file a First Information Report (FIR) against Sarma and pursue criminal charges.
