Telangana Election 2023: Voting Commences Across 119 Assembly Constituencies
National Desk, 30th November: Voting commenced across all 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana on Thursday, with polling stations operational from 7 am to 6 pm. In 106 constituencies, polling will continue until 5 PM, while in 13 Left Wing Extremism affected seats, it will conclude at 4 PM.
The state boasts 3.26 crore eligible voters, comprising 1,63,13,268 men and 1,63,02,261 women. A total of 2,290 candidates, including Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, his son K T Rama Rao, state Congress president A Revanth Reddy, and BJP Lok Sabha members Bandi Sanjay Kumar and D Arvind, are contesting the elections.
The model code of conduct came into effect after the Election Commission announced the schedule on October 9. BJP, with candidates in all 119 seats, is contesting 111 seats as per the seat-sharing agreement, while actor Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena is contesting in 8 seats. The Congress, in alliance with CPI, is contesting from 118 seats, and AIMIM has fielded candidates in nine city segments led by Asaduddin Owaisi.
