Ten Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested for Illegal Stay in Ranjangaon, Indian Documents Seized

Ten Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra, for residing in India illegally, with some of the accused having managed to acquire Indian identity documents, including voter ID cards, according to Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh.

The arrests took place in the Ranjangaon MIDC industrial area, where the suspects had been working as daily wage laborers at construction sites. Their length of stay in India ranged from six months to over ten years, with none possessing valid documentation for legal residency.

Following their arrest, a local court has remanded the accused to police custody until October 24. Authorities are now investigating whether an organized network or agent is facilitating the entry of Bangladeshi nationals into India.

Several of the suspects had obtained Indian identification documents such as Aadhaar and PAN cards. Police are probing how these documents were acquired, with concerns growing about possible broader misuse in the industrial belt.

“The preliminary investigation shows they were involved in labor work, but we need to ascertain their exact reasons for staying in India,” Deshmukh stated. The Ranjangaon police have filed a case and are expanding the investigation to uncover potential trafficking networks or organized systems involved in illegal immigration.
