Tension Erupts in Arunachal’s Kharsang Following Assam Rifles’ Firing on Youth

Northeast Desk, 18th November: Tension gripped in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on Friday following a reported firing incident in the Kharsang area.

Initial reports indicated that among the three, a youth named Limong Lungri, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.

 The Assam Rifles, stationed in the forest of Pangchun village in Kharsang for area domination, reacted to the sound of gunfire from a young man hunting, mistakenly perceiving him as a militant after hearing gunshots.

Subsequently, locals encircled the Assam Rifles camp in Kharsang, expressing their protest.

 The injured youth has been identified as Lameng Lungri.

Meanwhile, right after the firing incident, residents convened at Kharsang Police Station, leading to the deployment of heavy security to control the situation, according to sources.
