Tension Rises in Assam’s Lanka After Child’s Tragic Death Due to Alleged Negligence

Guwahati, 17th August: Tensions escalated in Assam’s Lanka after a heartbreaking incident involving the death of a five-year-old child. The young boy, Priyangshu Das, passed away at Lankeswari Hospital & Research Centre on Wednesday evening, allegedly due to not receiving timely treatment.

According to sources, the child’s mother, Prastuti Das, admitted him to the hospital as he was suffering from a common cold and fever. Tragically, the family claims that Priyangshu was left untreated for two hours at the hospital. They allege that the reason for the delay was their inability to deposit Rs. 3,000 for his treatment, as they belong to the economically weaker section.

Priyangshu’s mother expressed her anguish, sharing, “My son started to have breathing issues, and yet no one came to provide him oxygen or check on him. Why are CCTV cameras installed at this hospital if they couldn’t notice that a patient needed immediate medical attention? Due to their negligence, my son had to die today.”

The incident has sparked outrage and calls for accountability, highlighting the critical need for efficient and accessible healthcare for all sections of society.
