Tensions Flare at India-Bangladesh Border as Protesters Demand Action Against Minority Oppression

A wave of protests erupted near the India-Bangladesh border in Assam’s Cachar district on Sunday, as thousands of Hindu nationalists rallied under the banner of the “Bangladesh Chalo” campaign. The demonstration, organized by various Sanatani groups, was aimed at condemning alleged minority oppression in Bangladesh and demanding the release of Maharaj Chinmoy Krishna Das.

The protest, held approximately a kilometer from the Sutarkandi border, saw a massive turnout of demonstrators who expressed their anger through bike rallies, chanting slogans, and even trampling the Bangladeshi flag. The slogans, including “Jai Shri Ram,” “Yunus Sarkar Hai Hai,” and “Yunus Murdabad,” were directed against the Bangladeshi government.

As tensions escalated, security forces, including police and paramilitary personnel, were deployed to control the crowd and prevent any breach of the border. The situation became volatile when protesters attempted to cross the border, leading to clashes with security forces. At least one protester was injured during the confrontation.

The “Bangladesh Chalo” campaign has highlighted the growing concerns over the treatment of minorities in Bangladesh. The Indian government is now under pressure to address the issue and take appropriate diplomatic steps to safeguard the rights of the Hindu minority in the neighboring country.
