Terror Plot Foiled: Telangana, Andhra Police Nab Two in ISIS-Inspired Dummy Blast Plan for Hyderabad

National: In a significant breakthrough, Telangana Police—working in tandem with Andhra Pradesh counterparts—foiled a terror plot allegedly orchestrated by an ISIS-inspired module targeting Hyderabad.

Two suspects, identified as Siraj from Vizianagaram and Sameer from Hyderabad, were apprehended before they could execute a dummy explosion that was reportedly meant to serve as a test run for a larger attack.

Intelligence inputs led to the swift joint operation, during which investigators uncovered that Siraj had procured explosive materials in Vizianagaram under instructions from a suspected Islamic State handler operating out of Saudi Arabia. Preliminary interrogation suggests the pair were being guided remotely and were in the early stages of planning coordinated terror acts in the Telangana capital.

Authorities have placed both suspects in custody, where intensive questioning is underway to determine the extent of the plot and uncover any additional operatives or sleeper cells active in the region.

The arrest comes at a time when the country is on high alert following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where gunmen opened fire on a tourist group, killing multiple civilians. Investigations revealed that the attack was carried out by a combined group of Pakistani nationals and local Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives. Though their identities have been established, the assailants remain at large, prompting nationwide security sweeps.

In a parallel development underscoring the heightened terror threat landscape, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids across 15 locations in Punjab linked to gangster Happy Passian. Passian is allegedly affiliated with Pakistan-based Khalistani terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda. The raids are connected to the December grenade attack on a police station in Gurdaspur district.

Security agencies remain on high alert, with coordinated operations being executed across several states to preempt further acts of terror and dismantle transnational networks exploiting local operatives.
