The Northeast’s “Real Development” Started in 2014: Amit Shah in Sikkim
Guwahati: Prior to Narendra Modi becoming prime minister, the northeast was only seen as a “tourism destination,” according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is currently on a three-day trip to northeast.
Shah remarked that Modi’s election as prime minister in 2014 marked the beginning of the “true growth” of the northeast.
The Home Minister made these comments during the Cooperative Dairy Conclave of Eastern and North Eastern Regions in Gangtok in 2022.
“In 75 years of independence, before Narendra Modi became the PM, the northeast was considered only a tourist destination. After he became the PM, the real development of the northeast began,” Shah said.
The PM Modi-led administration has decided to establish 65,000 active Primary Agricultural Credit Societies, according to the Home Minister (PACS).
“Narendra Modi govt has decided to set up around 65,000 active PACS. We’ve decided that within five years every panchayat will have one PACS and a dairy each,” he said.
Earlier today he arrived in Gangtok, Sikkim to open the Eastern and North-Eastern Zones Dairy Cooperative Conclave 2022.
People were spotted lining up on both sides of the street to greet the home minister as he arrived with the flag of the country.
At Gangtok’s Raj Bhavan, he dedicated the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Ganga Prasad, the state governor, was also present.
JP Nadda, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will also travel to the Northeast today to open the party’s largest office there.
The newly built Assam state BJP office in the Basistha neighbourhood of Guwahati will be officially opened by the party’s top leaders on Saturday, according to Assam State BJP President Bhabesh Kalita, in the presence of state party leaders and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Nadda and Shah will also be present at the Guwahati Veterinary College playground for the party workers’ meeting.
Shah will attend a number of official meetings on Saturday night and Sunday early, according to government sources. Following a number of formal engagements on Sunday, the Union Home Minister will leave the state after attending the Conference of the Superintendent of Police at the Police Training College in Dergaon.
