The Sustainable Finance Working Group’s inaugural meeting will be held in Guwahati under the G20
Guwahati: The Sustainable Finance Working Group’s inaugural meeting will be held in Guwahati on February 2 and 3.
Delegates began arriving on February 1 for the renowned gathering, and the city of Guwahati is prepared to host them.
The Sustainable Finance Working Group meeting will be attended by more than 100 delegates from the G20, guest countries, and international organisations.
In order to promote the transition to greener, more resilient, and inclusive society and economies, the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group works to mobilise sustainable finance. Four seminars over the course of the two days will cover the following key topics:
- Mechanisms for mobilisation of timely and adequate resources for climate finance;
- Enabling finance for Sustainable Development Goals; and
- Capacity building of the ecosystem for financing toward sustainable development.
The slogan “One Earth, One Family, One Future” or “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” captures the ethos of India’s G20 Presidency. The topic emphasises the idea of interconnection and environmentally friendly change to support a pro-life planet with a people-centric perspective.
Additionally, the Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Mission LiFE initiative puts people at the forefront of driving change in the fight against climate change and the realisation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Alongside the summit, a number of Jan Bhagidari activities are being planned, such as a cleaning campaign, a painting and slogan contest, a seminar on SDG funding, a tree-planting push, and a G20 Conclave on innovative investment for climate action.
The hotel for the delegates is embellished with mementos and artwork featuring the lovely city. The delegates will take part in a wildlife safari at the UNESCO World Heritage Site that is Kaziranga National Park.
The delegates will also tour well-known locations in Guwahati, including as the Old Governor House and Brahmaputra River Island. Over the course of the meeting’s two days, the participants have also been invited to cultural events that highlight Assam’s rich history and traditions, including yoga classes.
