Three Arrested in Manipur for Arson and Vandalism as Police Tighten Security in Kazanga-Valpabung

Imphal: In a decisive move to restore law and order, Manipur Police have arrested three individuals in connection with recent incidents of arson and vandalism that rocked the Kazanga-Valpabung village areas.

The arrests were made on April 6, 2025, as part of an intensified crackdown aimed at preventing further unrest in the region.

The development was confirmed through an official statement posted on the police department’s X (formerly Twitter) handle. Authorities stated that the apprehended individuals were swiftly presented before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Kangpokpi district and have since been remanded to five days of police custody to aid further investigation into the violent incidents.

Manipur Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and urged residents to stay calm and vigilant. With growing concerns about misinformation on social media, the department issued a strong advisory asking citizens not to fall prey to false narratives circulating online. “Maximum efforts are taken by Manipur Police to maintain peace and normalcy in the area. The public are requested to desist from believing in social media misinformation campaigns,” read the official statement.

As tensions remain high, authorities have assured that law enforcement agencies will maintain a strong presence in the affected areas. Security measures have been tightened, and surveillance increased to prevent any recurrence of violence, while the investigation into the incident continues in full swing.
