Guwahati: Manipur government authorities in the Imphal East area have destroyed up to three “unauthorised” churches.
Notably, these three “unauthorized” churches were constructed in Imphal, Manipur on property held by the government.
In the wee hours of today, the three “unauthorized” churches in Manipur’s Imphal East district were demolished.
The churches that were demolished by the Manipur government authorities are: Catholic Holy Spirit Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church and Evangelical Baptist Convention Church.
The churches were destroyed when there was a significant security presence on the scene.
It should be noted that the chapels were recently deemed illegal by the Manipur high court since they were built on public property without the required authorization.
