Three Drug Mafias Arrested in Silchar, Police Resort to Firing During Capture
Guwahati, 25th July: In a significant development, three drug mafias were apprehended by Assam Police in Silchar shortly after a substantial amount of illegal drugs was seized. During the operation, one of the drug peddlers attempted to escape, leading to the police resorting to firing in order to detain him.
The injured drug mafia, identified as Manowar Hussain, suffered injuries from the police gunfire and was rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for medical attention, according to reliable sources.
Providing insights into the incident, a police official stated, “We had planned to take them to a strategic location to gather critical information. However, upon reaching the spot, the suspect tried to flee, compelling us to fire at his leg to subdue him.”
The arrest of the drug peddler, along with two others, came about as a result of a joint operation conducted by Cachar Police and the Special Task Force (STF) during the late hours of Tuesday night in Silchar.
This development marks a significant blow to the drug trafficking network in the region and demonstrates the authorities’ commitment to combating illicit drug activities. Further investigations are expected to follow to dismantle the network and prevent its resurgence.
