Guwahati: At least three people sustained injuries in a road accident in front of Assam Secretariat in Guwahati on Wednesday.
As per reports, a speeding truck struck the railings of the barrier in front of Janata Bhawan in Dispur area of Guwahati late last night.
Three people were injured as the truck overturned following the collision, but no fatalities have been reported as of yet.
The freight-carrying truck that was involved in the collision had registration numbers AS 01 BC 9073.
There was a total of six people in the truck including the driver and co-pilot, four labourers, and three of them were injured in the collision.
The crash had such an impact that the entire row of rails was knocked to the ground. In addition, the truck’s front wheels were severed from it.
A police team reached the spot immediately and sent the injured to a hospital for better treatment.
The truck’s driver, who was at fault for the collision fled from the area. Police suspect that the accident was caused by the truck’s driver being drunk at the time.
