Three Suspected NSCN Militants Killed in Dima Hasao Encounter with Assam Police

Haflong: In a major anti-insurgency operation, at least three suspected cadres of the NSCN (National Socialist Council of Nagaland) were killed in an encounter with Assam Police in the hilly Dima Hasao district on Tuesday.

According to senior officials, the encounter took place in an interior area between N Kubin and Herakilo villages under Haflong police station limits, after the group reportedly infiltrated from Nagaland.

“Based on a specific input, a joint team of Assam Police and central forces launched an operation. Upon confrontation, a heavy exchange of fire ensued,” a top police officer told PTI.

All three militants were killed on the spot during the gunfight. Security personnel recovered a significant cache of arms from the site, including two AK-47 rifles, a pistol, and multiple rounds of ammunition.

The area is remote, and security teams are continuing combing operations. Authorities have launched an investigation and are actively pursuing possible accomplices of the group.

This operation marks a significant blow to insurgent activity in the region, which has seen sporadic unrest in recent years.
