Guwahati: At least three suspected robbers were killed in another encounter with the Assam Police on Saturday night. The suspected robbers were killed in Kokrajhar while they were allegedly trying to break into a bank in the Bhotgaon area of the district.
A police person stated that they were killed during an encounter with the police while they had attempted to break into the bank. They were tracked by the police with some inputs and on being challenged they tried to flee and so, the police team had to resort to controlled firing on them.
The three suspected robbers had also possessed several materials that the police suspect was intended to break into the bank.
Locals speaking on the incident said that this was the fourth attempt to rob the bank and the bank was robbed three times earlier.
However, an official statement is yet to be made with all details of the encounter.
