Tiger Sighting Prompts Section 144 in Assam’s Bokakhat Town

Guwahati, 13th June: Panic spread through Bokakhat town in Assam following the sighting of a tiger roaming freely in the Japori Pathar region of Kaziranga. The incident, occurring near a densely populated area, has raised concerns among residents, although there have been no reports of attacks or fatalities.

District magistrate Simi Karan swiftly responded to the situation by imposing Section 144 of the CrPC in Japori Pathar, Sukani village, Ahomgaon, and Borigaon. This measure prohibits movement within and near the affected area as a precautionary step.

Residents have been instructed to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary, while authorities intensify efforts to locate the tiger. The order is effective immediately and will continue until further notice, with penalties under Section 188 of the IPC for any violations.

The enforcement aims to ensure public safety amidst the presence of the tiger in proximity to human settlements, emphasizing precautionary measures until the situation is resolved.
