Tipra Motha Chairman Hails Signing of Accord as Triumph for Tiprasa People
Northeast Desk, 3rd March: Pradyot Manikya Debbarma, chairman of Tipra Motha and scion of the Tripura royal family, celebrated the signing of the Tiprasa Accord as a historic moment where the voices of the Tiprasa people resonated in the highest echelons of New Delhi. Addressing a jubilant crowd in Hathai Hotor upon his return from the capital, Debbarma emphasized the unity among the Tiprasa people as the driving force behind the realization of the accord.
Expressing pride in the achievement, Debbarma lauded the peaceful approach taken by the Tiprasas in amplifying their voices without resorting to violence or arms. He underscored the significance of unity, highlighting that fragmentation along tribal lines would have yielded no results. Instead, unity under the banner of Bukum Bara led to this historic breakthrough.
While celebrating the signing of the accord, Debbarma acknowledged the challenges ahead, noting the past failures of similar agreements. He stressed the need for disciplined, honest, and hardworking efforts to ensure the success of the Tiprasa Accord. Emphasizing that the work is far from over, Debbarma urged the community to remain focused and united in their efforts to implement the accord effectively.
The accord outlines the formation of a joint working group or committee tasked with implementing mutually agreed points within a specified timeframe. To maintain a conducive atmosphere for implementation, all stakeholders are urged to refrain from agitation or protest. Debbarma emphasized the importance of including knowledgeable and dedicated Tiprasas from various fields in this committee, particularly those well-versed in history, academia, law, and cultural heritage.
The Tipra Motha chairman’s remarks come in the wake of a tripartite agreement among the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and Tipra Motha to address longstanding tribal grievances and ensure their rights. Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the constructive role played by Tipra Motha and tribal parties in facilitating the accord, attributing the success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in fostering peace and development in the Northeast.
