TMC MLA Manik Bhattacharya summoned by ED in Bengal SSC Scam

Guwahati: Trinamool Congress MLA Manik Bhattacharya arrived at the Enforcement Directorate’s office in Kolkata on Wednesday to be questioned on the SSC teacher recruitment scam which has been in the news recently.

His summons comes just after state education minister Partha Chaterjee’s arrest.

Following a court ruling, Bhattacharya was recently also fired from his position as president of the Bengal Primary Education Board.

According to reports, during the most recent raids at Bhattacharya’s home, the investigation agency found several important documents connected to the alleged recruitment scam.

Bhattacharya needs to be questioned about these documents, according to the ED.

Partha Chatterjee, who was detained in connection with the teacher recruitment fraud, and his accused associate Arpita Mukherjee were interrogated by the CBI on Tuesday.

He was brought back to Kolkata after a thorough check-up at AIIMS Bhubaneswar and was straightaway taken to the ED office at the CGO complex in the city, where he was questioned.

Both Chatterjee and Mukherjee were sent to ED detention on Monday by a special ED court until August 3.
