TN: 11 die of electrocution during Temple Procession, Investigation on

Thanjavur (Tamil Nadu): At least 11 persons including children died and 15 others were injured after being electrocuted during a temple festival in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur district on Wednesday.

During the annual chariot festival, the event occurred early this morning at the Appar temple in Kalimedu village.

“The temple palanquin encountered some difficulty while taking a curve when it came into touch with the overhead line,” police authorities stated.

Two children, according to accounts, were among those killed in the event.

The injured were taken to a local hospital, according to officials.

Meanwhile, police have stated that the names of the deceased are still unknown and that the remains have been sent for a post-mortem examination.

Moreover, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking the Twitter announced that Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the mishap in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000
