Traffic Restrictions Imposed for PM Narendra Modi’s Visit to Guwahati

Guwahati, 3rd February: In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Assam starting from February 3, the Guwahati Traffic Police has announced a set of restrictions to ensure public safety and facilitate the smooth movement of emergency vehicles. The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate various developmental projects and address a public rally at Khanapara veterinary college grounds on Sunday.

Traffic Restrictions:

  1. NH-27 and NH-17 Restrictions:
  • Plying of commercial goods carrying vehicles with four wheels and above will be restricted on NH-27 and NH-17 within Guwahati City.
  • Duration: From 2 PM to 11 PM on 3rd February 2024 and from 4 AM to 6 PM on 4th February 2024.
  1. Inner City Road Restrictions:
  • Commercial goods carrying vehicles of three wheels and above will face restrictions on G.S. Road, Panjabari road, B. Barooah road, GNB road, MG road, AT road, and DG road.
  • Duration: From 2 PM to 10 PM on 3rd February 2024.
  1. Extended Inner City Road Restrictions:
  • Further restrictions on G.S. Road, Panjabari road, Sixmile-Narengi Road, Tripura (Gali) Road, Beltola Bazar Road, Beltola-Basistha Road.
  • Duration: From 5 AM to 6 PM on 4th February 2024.
  1. Regulation of ASTC Buses/City Buses:
  • ASTC Buses/City Buses will be regulated based on the evolving traffic scenario in the city.
  1. No Restrictions for Emergency Vehicles:
  • Movement of emergency vehicles like ambulances, fire tenders, etc., will face no restrictions on both 3rd and 4th February 2024.

These restrictions aim to ensure the safety of the public, especially vulnerable road users, during the Prime Minister’s visit and related events. Citizens are urged to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with the traffic guidelines during the specified hours.
