Guwahati: A section of a wall collapsed onto a freight-carrying tempo preventing a terrible disaster in Maligaon area of Guwahati on Tuesday.
According to reports, the tempo was standing on the adjoining street when a section of a building wall collapsed.
The incident occurred in Bara Bazar near Pandu in the Maligaon area of Guwahati, while the building was being demolished without following the stipulated norms.
Reportedly, Pradip Jain owned the structure which was in the process of being demolished.
The Ajit Kalita’s carrier tempo, which was hit directly by the wall fragment was completely demolished in the meantime.
However, there were no reported accidents or fatalities. As a massive tragedy was avoided, a few adjacent pedestrians were also saved.
As soon as rumours of the tragedy started to circulate, local police and other emergency services hurried to the scene.
According to authorities, an investigation into the incident has begun.
