Tragedy Strikes Dhonguri Village as Wild Elephant Kills Infant in Rampage
Dhonguri: A wild elephant from Raimona National Park wreaked havoc in Dhonguri village late last night, resulting in the tragic death of an 11-month-old infant, Mahadev Basumatary.
The wild elephant broke into the home of Ringkhang Basumatary the victim’s house, destroying the house and causing chaos that led to the heartbreaking loss of the infant.
The family, like many others in the village, resides in makeshift housing, lacking adequate support from government agencies.
Villagers expressed their despair over the incident, highlighting the urgent need for improved housing and infrastructure in the area.
The village has suffered from chronic neglect, with many families forced to live in precarious conditions without proper government assistance.
In response to the tragedy, local police, forest officials, and magistrates were forced to trek several kilometers to reach the site, highlighting the dire state of road and transportation access in the region.
