Tragedy Strikes on Mizoram Border as Myanmar Refugee Fatally Shot in Crossfire

Northeast Desk, 13th November: In a recent development on the Mizoram border, the ongoing clashes have taken a devastating turn as a 51-year-old Myanmar refugee, Chungthianmawia, lost his life in Indian Territory.

The incident unfolded in Zokhawthar, Champhai, where Chungthianmawia fell victim to a fatal gunshot wound, originating from Myanmar.

Local sources reveal that the intense crossfire resulted in injuries to 17 individuals, including minors.

The wounded were immediately transported to Champhai Hospital, while three critically affected cases were referred to Aizawl for advanced medical care.

The escalating situation in Zokhawthar Village has triggered a mass exodus of residents to safer havens within Mizoram.

The persistent threat of bullets crossing the border from Myanmar has instilled fear, prompting heightened vigilance from Assam rifles stationed along the Indo-Myanmar border in anticipation of further unrest.
