Tragic Bus Accident in Khargone of Madhya Pradesh, 15 Dead and 24 Injured
National Desk, 9 May: As many as 15 people were dead and 24 people were injured after a tragic bus accident in Madya Pradesh on Tuesday. A bus fell off a 50-feet-high bridge in Khargone at 8.40 am on Tuesday. Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that 15 passengers have died out of which 3 are children and 6 are women. Khargone SP Dharam Veer Singh said 24 people were injured. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.
It is being told that the bus fell down after breaking the railing of the bridge of Borad river between Dongargaon and Dasanga. The river was dry. Ambulances and administration officials are present at the spot. Ig Rakesh Gupta said that the bus was going towards Indore from Bejapur in Khargone. Due to the high speed, he fell down from the bridge breaking the railing uncontrollably. Most of the passengers suffered injuries due to the river being dry but more than 15 passengers died. Rescue operations are underway and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Many injured passengers were rescued by breaking the glass of the bus while the local people also took them to the hospital in their own vehicles as soon as possible. The accident took place near Dongargaon in Un police station area, about 34 km from the district headquarters. The bus driver is yet to be identified. According to reports, it appears that the driver had a sleepy spell when the bus went out of control.
Raj Patidar, a resident of Dongargaon said that more than 40 people were travelling in the bus of Maa Sharda Travels. After the accident, villagers of Dongargaon and Lonara villages rushed to the spot. The injured were pulled out by breaking the glass of the bus. Villagers said that the bus had left the village five minutes ago and the bus was moving at high speed.
