Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Lives of Two Minor Sisters in Assam’s Barpeta District
Guwahati, 27th September: In a heartbreaking incident, two young sisters lost their lives in a drowning accident in Baghbar, Assam’s Barpeta district. The unfortunate event unfolded on Tuesday evening as the sisters were returning from agricultural fields, tragically swept away by the powerful currents of the Jaljali River.
The young victims have been identified as Shamina Akhtar and Afruda Begum, according to sources.
Upon receiving the report, Barpeta Police swiftly arrived at the scene to assist. With the assistance of local residents, they managed to recover the body of Afruda Begum. Regrettably, the search for Shamina’s body is still ongoing.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by water bodies, especially during periods of heavy currents.
