Training Programme for farmers on ‘Rice Doctor Application’

Guwahati, 29 June: The ToT (Training for Trainers) programme was to encourage the farmers to solve their crop production problems via digital tools and practice smart farming. The programme was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Karbi Anglong on a one day training programme for extension functionaries of Karbi Anglong at the KVK campus.

The programme was started with the welcome speech of Dr. Subal Maibongsa, Head and Principal Scientist, KVK, Diphu followed by a brief introduction of all the participants including ADOs from different blocks and circles of the Karbi Anglong district.

Dr. Suja Thanga Srinivas, Specialist Plant Protection, IRRI has elaborate about the “RICE DOCTOR” application which is available for public use in the Google Play store in any android phones. She explains about all the features of the app and explain how could a farmer solve any problems regarding disease, pest or fertilizers related query very easily by going through some easy steps available in both the English and Assamese languages.

Mr. Abdul Manan, Specialist seeds, IRRI talked about creating an ecological balance of use of right doses of fertilizers, pesticides at right time so to control hazardeouge side effects of fertilizers and pesticides that creates lots of problems for human society. The programme was attended by scientist from Zonal Research Station, Diphu, Karbi Anglong and Subject Matter Specialist from KVK, Karbi Anglong.

Mr. Bishnu Jyoti Saikia, Project Associate, APART, KVK, Karbi Anglong gave the vote of thanks to all the participants and APART, KVK, Karbi Anglong staffs to make the programme successful and wish the participants and farmers of Karbi Anglong to use the “Rice Doctor” Application as much as possible.
