Transplantation of Human Organ Act Adopted in Arunachal
Guwahati: The Transplantation of Human Organ Act 1994 was unanimously approved by the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Thursday with the goal of developing a suitable infrastructure for organ donation in the state (Amendment Act 2011).
A government resolution was approved with the vote and approval of all the lawmakers present on the final day of the Arunachal Pradesh legislative assembly session.
The resolution was moved by the State Health and Family Welfare Minister of Arunachal Alo Libang.
The removal, storage, and transplantation of human organs for medicinal purposes as well as the avoidance of commercial deals in human organs must be governed by the Act, according to the Arunachal Pradesh Health Minister.
“Adopting the Act will be the first step in developing the necessary infrastructure for implementation, training hospital staff and physicians, promoting deceased organ and tissue donation, conducting IECs to raise public awareness, and establishing national networking and registries,” he said.
The Act was passed by the Parliament and, on July 8, 1994, and September 27, 2011, respectively, the President of India gave his assent.
