Tripura: 11 MLAs to take oath as cabinet ministers today
Guwahati: A total of 11 MLAs will take oath as cabinet ministers in Tripura, including nine from the BJP and two from the IPFT today.
An official said that with the exception of IPFT’s Mevar Kumar Jamatia, all of the ministers from Biplab Kumar Deb’s government got a position in the new cabinet.
A recent dispute between Jamatia, the Biplab Kumar Deb government’s minister for tribal welfare, and NC Debbarma, the leader of the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura, came to light.
In the presence of Chief Minister Manik Saha, previous Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, and other dignitaries, Governor SN Arya will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the cabinet members during a ceremony in Raj Bhavan.
“Jishnu Dev Varma, NC Debbarma (IPFT), Ratan Lal Nath, Pranajit Singha Roy, Manoj Kanti Deb, Santana Chakma, Ram Prasad Paul, Bhagaban Das, Sushanta Chowdhury, Rampada Jamatia and Prem Kumar Reang (IPFT) will take oath as the cabinet ministers of the state tomorrow,” said the new CM in a letter to the governor on Sunday night.
Saha was sworn in as Tripura’s chief minister during the day.
Former chief minister Biplab Deb, whose unexpected resignation on Saturday evening paved the way for Saha’s appointment was in attendance as were BJP MLAs and state ministers.
Rampada Jamatia, a long-serving BJP tribal leader was named to the government as a minister.
Prem Kumar Reang, an IPFT MLA has also been appointed to the new government.
