Tripura: 16 Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested at Agartala Railway Station in Crackdown on Illegal Activities
Northeast Desk, 14th August: In a significant operation at Agartala Railway Station, authorities arrested 16 Bangladeshi nationals, including 13 men and 3 women, on charges of illegal entry and potential involvement in unlawful activities. The detainees, ranging in age from 20 to 39 years, were taken into custody by the Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) in Agartala, sparking concerns over illegal operations in the region.
The arrested individuals, identified as Mijanur Rahaman (26), Safikul Islam (30), Md. Alamin Ali (23), Md. Milan (38), Sahabul (30), Sariful Shek (30), Kabir Shek (34), Lija Khatun (26), Tania Khan (24), Ethi Shek (39), Brindaban Mandal (21), Abdul Hakim (25), Md. Idul (27), Md. Abdur Rahaman (20), Md. Ayub Ali (30), and Md. Jiarul (20), were reportedly attempting to travel without proper documentation, leading to their apprehension.
Notably, three of the detainees have been identified as touts, suspected of being involved in illegal operations. This has intensified concerns about a possible network of unlawful activities involving cross-border elements. Law enforcement has registered a case against all 16 individuals under multiple legal provisions and is pursuing stringent measures against those identified as touts.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, where the legal process will further determine their involvement in illegal activities. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of their presence in Agartala and any connections they might have to broader illegal networks.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to crack down on illegal cross-border activities and ensure the security of the region.
