Tripura: 5 Companies Of Central Paramilitary Forces Arrived, Ahead of Assembly Polls
Guwahati: Central paramilitary forces have started arriving in Tripura for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state early next year.
It should be noted that five CRPF companies arrived on December 27 and would be deployed in the districts to carry out election-related tasks, while 50 further companies are anticipated to arrive within the next 48 hours.
As many as 100 companies of central paramilitary forces – CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB will be deployed in the northeastern state to ensure free and fair elections.
“Five companies of central forces have arrived and 50 more companies are on their way to the state. By next week, around 100 companies of central forces will be available in the state”, said a senior police officer.
He added that all central forces will be deployed district-by-district to strengthen security arrangements for the polls and that the Center has set aside 100 companies of forces to conduct free and fair elections.
The officer added, “the district administrations have been asked to extend all possible logistics to the central forces. They will be attached to police stations to provide security to political rallies and area-dominating work”.
Tripura Police and the state paramilitary force Tripura State Rifles (TSR) would be deployed for general law and order tasks and to provide protection for the VIPs who are anticipated to visit the state for election campaigning.
The final draft of the electoral rolls will be published on January 5.
