Tripura Administration Demolishes Illegal Constructions in Agartala’s Usha Bazar

Northeast Desk, 17th July: The Tripura administration commenced a demolition drive against illegal constructions in Usha Bazar, Agartala, on July 17. Vishal Kumar, the District Magistrate and Collector of West Tripura, emphasized the state’s zero-tolerance policy towards crime.

Kumar stated that individuals involved in smuggling, drug peddling, land mafia activities, or interfering in government tenders would face stringent actions. He noted that several members of the implicated group are already in jail with various allegations against them.

“The Chief Minister and the Tripura government uphold a zero-tolerance policy against crime. No individual or organization involved in smuggling, drug peddling, land mafia activities, or interference in government tenders will be spared. Some old and new members of this group are already in jail facing criminal allegations. This group has numerous accusations against it,” Kumar said.

The state government has taken action against the illegal constructions in accordance with regulations. The site is slated for the development of a primary health care center. Kumar highlighted the dual approach of the demolition drive, combining punitive measures with development plans.

“Along with punishment, the government envisions development in this demolition drive. The proposal to build a primary health care center on this land is part of our commitment to progress,” Kumar added.
