Tripura: Agartala Gears Up for Health as Governor Backs ‘Sundays on Cycle’

Agartala: Agartala witnessed a spirited Sunday morning as Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu led by example, joining citizens for the “Sundays on Cycle” event at the iconic Ujjayanta Palace. The Governor’s participation underscores a burgeoning local movement aimed at fostering a culture of health and fitness through regular cycling, resonating with the community’s desire for a more active lifestyle.

Governor Nallu seized the opportunity to underscore the profound benefits of cycling, highlighting its simplicity yet powerful impact on both physical and mental well-being. “Cycling strengthens muscles, boosts physical endurance, and enhances mental well-being,” he articulated to the gathered participants, encouraging everyone to embrace cycling at least once a week to cultivate enduring healthy habits. He further emphasised, “The Governor of Tripura has encouraged the people of Tripura to adopt the habit of cycling at least one day a week, to gradually develop a routine that can yield unbelievable health benefits in our lives.”

The event drew a diverse crowd, ranging from dedicated fitness enthusiasts and local residents to ardent health advocates, all united in their support for a healthier, more active way of life. This initiative aims to seamlessly integrate cycling into daily routines across all age groups, with the overarching goal of combating sedentary lifestyles prevalent in urban centres.

This push for grassroots health initiatives by the Governor comes just a day after Chief Minister Manik Saha unveiled a grander vision for the state’s future. Speaking at the 10th NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting in New Delhi, CM Saha articulated the state government’s meticulously formulated Strategic Road Map to sculpt a “future-ready Tripura,” proudly christened “Unnato and Shreshtho” (Developed and Great).

The high-profile meeting, helmed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and graced by Union Ministers such as Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and JP Nadda, served as a crucial platform where Chief Ministers, Governors, and Lt Governors from across the nation presented their respective states’ blueprints and progress.

During his address, CM Saha also extended commendation to the central government and the armed forces for their instrumental role in “Operation Sindoor,” hailing it as a resounding success and offering his congratulations to Prime Minister Modi for its impeccable execution.

Collectively, the weekend’s events in Tripura painted a compelling picture of a dual-pronged leadership approach: one diligently nurturing grassroots health and lifestyle transformation, and the other meticulously charting a course for long-term infrastructural and economic development, promising a holistic advancement for the state.
