AGARTALA— In a significant move to expedite post-flood recovery, the Tripura government has sanctioned an additional ₹13 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, raising the total flood relief and rehabilitation aid to ₹25 crore.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced the new allocation on Tuesday, emphasizing the state’s commitment to supporting affected communities. “The government has approved an additional ₹13 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to address post-flood damages from August 2024. The fund will be utilized through the Revenue Department (Disaster Management) to aid affected areas and provide essential assistance,” Dr. Saha wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

In the immediate aftermath, the state government implemented emergency relief measures, including the distribution of food, medical aid, and temporary shelters for those affected.
The newly allocated funds aim to accelerate the restoration of damaged infrastructure, support rebuilding efforts, and provide continued aid to communities still grappling with the disaster’s aftermath. Officials have stated that the Revenue Department will oversee the disbursement and utilization of the funds to ensure effective implementation of recovery plans.
Residents in the flood-hit areas have welcomed the government’s efforts, expressing hope that the additional financial assistance will speed up the rebuilding of homes and infrastructure while aiding those who lost their means of livelihood.
The Tripura government’s proactive approach to flood relief underscores its commitment to addressing the challenges posed by natural disasters and ensuring the welfare of its citizens.
