Tripura and Odisha Receive Significant Boost for Rural Roads Under PM-JANMAN
Agartala: The Ministry of Rural Development has greenlit a substantial allocation of Rs 76.47 crore for the state of Tripura. This financial impetus is specifically directed towards the enhancement of rural connectivity under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan, also known as PM-JANMAN.
This recent sanction will facilitate the construction of 25 new roads across Tripura, encompassing a total length of 84.352 kilometers. This development builds upon previous approvals under the same scheme, which had already sanctioned 42 roads in the state, stretching over 118.756 kilometers and representing an estimated investment of Rs 114.32 crore.
In a parallel effort to bolster rural infrastructure, the ministry has also extended its support to the state of Odisha. A significant investment of Rs 69.65 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of 26 roads, totaling 63.271 kilometers, along with the development of two Long Span Bridges (LSBs) in Odisha. Prior to this, PM-JANMAN had already sanctioned 66 roads of 211.14 kilometers and four LSBs in the state, with an estimated investment of Rs 219.40 crore.
These strategic investments under the PM-JANMAN initiative are designed to provide crucial all-weather road connectivity to habitations of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in both Tripura and Odisha. The anticipated outcome is a significant improvement in the socio-economic conditions of these communities.
The enhanced connectivity is expected to bridge the existing gap between remote rural villages and urban centers, thereby fostering economic development, facilitating trade, and promoting commerce within the regions. Furthermore, this initiative is poised to improve access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and markets for the residents of these tribal habitations.
The Ministry of Rural Development emphasizes that these projects will play a vital role in creating employment opportunities and stimulating local economies, aligning directly with the government’s overarching vision of a developed India, or Viksit Bharat. The implementation of these PM-JANMAN projects is projected to have a transformative impact on the targeted regions, contributing significantly to the overall growth and prosperity of the Tribal Groups residing in these states and reinforcing the government’s dedication to inclusive development.
