Tripura Assembly Elections: Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman wins by huge margin of 6000 plus votes

Guwahati: Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman won the most recent Tripura Assembly elections, triumphing from the Agartala Assembly constituency by a huge margin of more than 6,000 votes. The outcome has been a huge boost for the Congress party, which has been struggling in recent years to gain traction in the state’s politics.

Agartala is regarded as a stronghold of the ruling BJP-IPFT alliance, and Barman, a former BJP politician who switched to the Congress party, ran from that district. Yet, he was able to easily defeat his closest challenger by a wide majority because to his effective campaign and high popularity among voters.

Barman’s victory and that of the Congress party are considered as significant changes in the state’s political landscape given that the BJP-IPFT alliance has been in power in Tripura for the previous four years. The Congress party had only won two seats at the previous Assembly elections, which were held in 2018.

All eyes are now focused on the establishment of the new government in the state of Tripura since the results of the Tripura Assembly elections have been announced.
