“Tripura Bachao-Bharat Jodo Yatra”: Asish calls for unity in the fight against the BJP Govt

Guwahati: Tripura Pradesh Congress is moving forward with “Tripura Bachao-Bharat Jodo Yatra” with zeal and excitement despite sporadic attacks on Congress rallies at various locations throughout the state.

On the eighth day of the campaign, Asish Kumar Saha a former MLA and seasoned congressman led a rally out of Congress Bhavan through the capital city’s Ramnagar assembly seat.

Speaking from the rally, Asish Kumar Saha said, “Our programs are going on across the state as a part of the ‘Tripura Bachao-Bharat Jodo’ campaign inspired from the mission of Rahul Gandhi to voice against burning issues including unemployment, unprecedented hike in prices of essential commodities, falling economy, divisive politics under BJP-led government and many more issues that has gripped the state and country”.

“Today too, the Congress is holding programs at several places across the state. We are trying to unite the people to fight against the fascist government amid BJP’s efforts to suppress the people’s voice”, he added.

The announcement followed the alleged attack on more than 20 Congress workers on Friday during the “Bharat Jodo Tripura Bachao Yatra” by BJP-backed goons in three different locations.

The attacks by the ruling party are a sign of fear as the party has begun losing support from the general public, Saha said in condemning them over opposition party programmes that have been approved by the police.

Asish Kumar Saha further said, “The foot march has received a remarkable response. Thousands of Congress workers from across the state joined the rallies organised to mark the occasion. In sub-division headquarters like Kamalpur, Khowai, Agartala, Bishalgarh, Udaipur, Sonamura, and Sabroom, the response of the people was inspiring for us.”

However, the campaign is viewed as a significant opportunity for the Congress to rebuild a strong connection.
