Tripura: Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala Celebrates 54th Independence and National Day
Northeast Desk, 27th March: The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala marked the 54th Independence and National Day of Bangladesh with a dignified celebration divided into two phases.
During the first phase, the National Flag of Bangladesh was hoisted at the Assistant High Commission premises, and wreaths were laid to pay tribute to the portrait of the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The event witnessed the esteemed presence of dignitaries including Governor of Tripura, Indrasena Reddy Nallu; Union Minister of State, Pratima Bhoumik; Justice Arindam Lodh of Tripura High Court; Tripura Human Rights Commission Chairman, Justice SC Das; Lokayat Chairperson, Kalyan Narayan Bhattacharya; MLA of Tripura Legislative Assembly, Shri Sudip Roy Barman; Chief Secretary, Jitendra Kumar Sinha; and Tripura Advocate General, Siddharth Shankar Dey.
Assistant High Commissioner Arif Mohammad, in his keynote address, honored the memory of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the national leaders, martyrs, and freedom fighters whose sacrifices paved the way for Bangladesh’s independence.
Expressing gratitude to the people and government of India, Mohammad highlighted the significant role of Tripura in the Great War of Liberation and the historic relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh, which has strengthened bilateral ties.
Mohammad emphasized the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission’s active engagement in various sectors in Tripura over the past 50 years, spanning political, economic, cultural, social, communication systems, law and order, and security.
The celebration served as a testament to the enduring friendship between Bangladesh and India and the shared commitment to fostering mutual cooperation and goodwill.
